National senior football team, the Brave Warriors were on Tuesday drawn against Burundi, Kenya and Cameron in Group C for their 2023 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage qualifiers.

The draw, held live on SuperSport TV saw former Ivorian and Chelsea striker Solomon Kalou as well as former South African captain Lucas Radebe conduct the draw for the championship that will be hosted by Ivory Coast.

Out of the 54 Confederation of African Football member associations, 48 countries qualified to participate in the second round of the 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON group stage qualifiers and were seeded into four pots based on the official International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rankings released on 31 March 2022.

Meanwhile, Kenya is currently serving a suspension from FIFA and if that suspension is not lifted before the group stage qualifiers kick-off, Group C, will then only consist of three teams.

Only 24 teams will qualify to compete in the finals of the AFCON, with the winner and runner-up in each group automatically qualifying for the finals.

Ivory Coast hosted the 14th edition of AFCON in 1984 and the qualification window will kick off during the month of June 2022.
