Namibia: Junior Table Tennis Tourney to Take Place At Maerua Mall

The Junior Table Tennis Masters Cup was launched recently with Bank Windhoek as title sponsor. The first ever two-day Bank Windhoek Junior Table Tennis Masters Cup tournament will take place at Maerua Mall on the 27th of this month.

Proactive's managing director, Heiko Diehl, said his company is very pleased that everything came together and expressed excitement as the tourney finally gets underway, with Maerua Mall as official host.

Bank Windhoek came on board as title sponsor for the prestigious event, as the financial institution continues its involvement in table tennis, after their title sponsorship of the Region 5 Championships ended last year.

Proactive aims to make the Bank WIndhoek Junior Masters Cup an annual highlight on the table tennis calendar.

"Bank Windhoek is committed to supporting smaller sporting codes, which enable participants to get greater exposure and improve their performance in the sport. We are delighted to be part of this event," said Riaan van Rooyen, head of corporate communication and social investment at Bank Windhoek.

NTTA president Ramon Hansen confirmed the endorsement by NTTA of the event. One of Namibia's most experienced table tennis administrators, Heiko Fleidl, has been appointed as tournament director for the Masters Cup.

The tourney is an invitational event where some of the best junior players of

Namibia will go head-to-head. The junior men's competition will see eight players battling it out for first place, while a total of five junior ladies hope to have their name engraved on the winner's trophy.

As with the Liebherr Master Cup for Namibia's senior elite, which forms an integral part of the yearly NTTA calendar, the Bank Windhoek Junior Masters Cup is aimed at promoting table tennis in Namibia and bringing sport closer to spectators.

The following players have been invited to participate in the Junior Masters Cup.
