Ndengu officially sworn in

Stefanus Ndengu, the newly elected councillor of the Moses //Garoeb Constituency, was officially sworn in at the opening of the Khomas Regional Council for the year 2023 on Friday.

In an interview with Nampa here, Ndengu expressed immense gratitude towards the members of the constituency for electing him as councillor.

“I am very happy and feeling humbled that I’ve been elected by the community of Moses //Garoeb. They entrust me to be their councillor so that I can be a belt to transform from community to leader,” Ndengu said.

Ndengu also outlined his plan of action for the constituency as part of his political party (Swapo) and how eager he is to work alongside stakeholders, to help combat issues within the community such as improper sanitation, lack of potable water and electricity.

“As a leader on the ticket of the Swapo party, we have a clear manifesto that as a Swapo member, one needs to follow. Whatever I am going to do is there. I also want to work with everyone. I want to work with all the stakeholders which is the community, leaders in the constituency, and the top leadership in government, so that we can build together and become a big place for all,” Ndengu said.

In the same vein, the new elect, alongside Windhoek Rural Constituency councillor, Piet Adams, were nominated for Management Council (MC).

The election results were three counts for Adams and seven counts for Ndengu out of the 10 Khomas Regional Councillors who voted.

This means the newly sworn-in Ndengu will join Chairperson of the Regional Council, Shaalukeni Moonde, Khomasdal Constituency councillor Samuel Angolo and Samora Machel Constituency councillior, Nestor Kalola in the Management Committee. All the MC members are from the Swapo Party.
