New police commanders appointed for Oshana, Oshikoto and Kavango West

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has appointed new commanders for the Oshana, Oshikoto and Kavango West regions, replacing three commanders who are set to retire.

In a media statement on Monday, NamPol said its police commander for Oshana, Commissioner Rauha Amwele who will retire at the end of July, is being replaced by Naftal Lungameni Sakaria.

Amwele has been in the force for 32 years and Sakaria will take over from her on 01 August 2022.

“Sakaria was the deputy commissioner and head of division for the NamPol Special Reserve Force in the capital,” it said.

Another newly promoted police chief, designated for the Oshikoto Region, is Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku who will take over from Armas Shivute, who has also been in the force for 32 years.

Shivute will retire at the end of July.

Amongst other things, Kalompo-Nashikaku served as head of administration in the Special Field Force in Windhoek.

“She will resume her duties at Omuthiya as the new police commander for Oshikoto Region on 01 August 2022,” reads the statement.

In the Kavango West Region, Commissioner Julia Iuze Sakuwa-Neo took over from retired commissioner, Josefat Abel.

Abel served as police officer for the past 31 years and Sakuwa-Neo took over from him on 01 July this year.

She was deputy commissioner for administration in the //Kharas, Zambezi and Oshikoto regions.

Lavinia Nanghelo Kalaula Shaxula was appointed to the position of principal staff officer in the office of the Inspector-General of NamPol in Windhoek.

She commenced her policing duties on 01 July 2022 after she replaced Commissioner John Alweendo, who retired from the force last month.

The statement further indicated that Sakaria, Kalompo-Nashikaku and Sakuwa-Neo all joined NamPol on 01 April 1996 after they completed their six months of basic training at the Oudtshoorn Police Training College in South Africa.
