A 58-year-old man died in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday night after the Ford Bantam he was driving allegedly overturned and rolled several times near Otjiwarongo.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa on Friday said the deceased, who has been identified as David Soroseb, allegedly lost control over the vehicle after a right front tyre burst.

The accident occurred approximately 32 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo at about 20h40, she said.

“Soroseb was ejected from his driving seat and died on the scene due to the severity of the injuries sustained,” Mbeha said.

Four other occupants aged 14, 15, 16 and 53, who were travelling in the same vehicle, sustained slight to serious injuries and were all taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical attention.
