Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on fathers and father figures to fulfil their role in safeguarding their families, while also helping to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) and create a crime-free nation. The Head of State emphasized these points in her Father's Day message through a press release issued by the Presidency on Sunday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Father's Day is commemorated globally on the third Sunday of June each year. Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted that the occasion serves as an opportunity for Namibia to recognize and appreciate fathers who actively nurture, protect, and inspire their families and communities.
Nandi-Ndaitwah underscored the importance of fathers as key figures and protectors within families and communities, noting their significant influence and impact. "I call on fathers and father figures to play their part in protecting families and contribute to the fight against gender-based violence and a crime-free Namibia," the president stated.
She urged fathers to continue advocating for positive fatherhood and ensure that all children are provided with the necessary care, guidance, and support to thrive. "On Father's Day, I urge fathers to continue to promote positive fatherhood and ensure that every child grows up with the care, guidance, and support they need to thrive," Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah also extended her best wishes to all Namibian men who embrace the essential task of fatherhood with love, dignity, and responsibility.
