Rehoboth man denied bail for alleged murder

A 21 year-old man arrested on Friday for the alleged murder of another man in Rehoboth last Thursday made his first appearance at the Rehoboth Magistrates Court on Monday.

SylvanisBoois appeared before Magistrate Bernadine Kubersky on a charge of murder when his case was postponed to 28 August for the accused to apply for legal aid and for further investigations.

It is alleged that Boois near Block E on Thursday unlawfully and intentionally killed BethuelUirab by stabbing him once in the chest with a knife causing the deceased to die on the spot.

Boois indicated that he will apply for a State-funded lawyer after the State opposed bail citing the likelihood of interference from the accused with ongoing investigations and State witnesses, public interest and the proper administration of justice.

The State also indicated that nine witness statements are outstanding along with the photo plan of the crime scene as well as the post mortem.

The accused was however informed to lodge a formal bail application.

Public Prosecutor ZibihoMunzenze appeared for the State.

Boois was remanded into custody at the Rehoboth Police holding cells.
