A seven-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself in a shed near his family home at Omaruru on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Penato Sageus.

Erongo Community Affairs Commander, Inspector Ileni Shapumba in a crime report said on Thursday morning the boy, his parents and two siblings aged four and five went to do the daily inspection at their goat kraal. They discovered that a goat had been stolen.

When the parents decided to follow the suspects’ tracks, the three children wanted to join them but the parents would not allow it and asked them to stay behind, a decision which reportedly did not sit well with the oldest boy.

”Upon the parents’ return, the five-year-old boy approached them and took them to the wooden shed close to their house where they found the boy’s lifeless body hanging,” Shapumba explained.

No foul play is suspected and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

In another incident, a 34-year-old man reportedly died on the spot after the forklift he was driving fell on him on Thursday.

The incident took place at Rennie’s Warehouse in Walvis Bay around 10h55 when the deceased, who has been identified as Johannes Tjamba Nginga, lost control of the forklift as it lost its balance.

Nginga reportedly tried to jump out of the vehicle and it fell on him.

His next of kin have been informed.

Police investigations in both matters are ongoing.
