A 16-year-old learner of Eheke Secondary School at Ohaziwa village in the Oshana Region allegedly dumped a baby boy in a silo after giving birth last Saturday.

A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Thursday, said the Grade 10 learner is believed to have given birth on 07 January 2023.

The report said the abandoned baby was discovered by children who were walking in the vicinity on the same day. They informed community health workers, who reported the matter to the police.

“The baby is currently admitted at the Oshakati State Hospital and he is in a stable condition,” said the report.

It further noted that the suspect was traced and found at the school.
