Unlicensed driver allegedly kills two at Rundu

A 22-year-old man was arrested for culpable homicide and driving a motor vehicle without a driver's after he allegedly bumped two boys along the Trans-Caprivi High way at Sikanduko informal settlement on Sunday.

This was contained in the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report availed to the media by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector, Kauna Shikwambi.

she said the incident occurred around 19h20.

It is alleged that the driver of a Toyota raider was driving from west to east on the Trans Caprivi high way when he bumped the victims who were both on a bicycle and died on the spot, said Shikwambi.

She said the deceased have been identified as Lukas Munango, 15 years-old while the other one was only identified as Ntsamba and his age in unknown and their next of kins have been informed.

The suspect was arrested and charged with culpable homicide and driving a motor vehicle without a driver's license and he is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate court on Tuesday. Police investigations into the matter continue.

In another separate incident, a 25-year-old man committed suicide on Saturday at Ndama location after hanging himself with a rope next to his house.

It is alleged that the deceased hanged himself at around 05h00 in the morning and he discovered by his uncle who notified the police, said Shikwambi.

The police spokesperson said the deceased has been identified as Sakeus Siyowo Musongo.

However, the deceased did not leave a suicide note and his motives remain unknown but his next of kin has been informed and police investigations into the matter continue, she said.
