Wanaheda: Voters at the Wanaheda Police Station polling station in Windhoek's Samora Machel Constituency experienced a slight delay on Wednesday as inmates were prioritised during the voting process. Polling stations across the country opened at 07h00, but those waiting at the police station only began casting their votes at 07h50.According to Namibia Press Agency, the delay was due to a decision by the presiding officer, Joseph Amvula, to allow inmates to vote first. Amvula explained that this measure was necessary to ensure the inmates' security, stating, "We need to help the inmates first because we cannot let them mix with the public. If the gate is opened, they might escape."Despite the delay, voter Selma Chukwuezi expressed understanding and patience, noting that people were waiting calmly for their turn to vote. "We are here trying our best to be patient and see to how the process is going for us to vote peacefully," Chukwuezi remarked.
