Herat:A five-day exhibition dedicated to art and traditional handicrafts has commenced in Herat province, western Afghanistan. The event began on Sunday and aims to highlight local artistry and craftsmanship.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the exhibition includes an array of artworks and handcrafted items such as paintings, miniature works, hand-carved pieces, and ceramics. It also serves as a platform to support artisans, with a particular focus on encouraging women in the craft industry.

The exhibition features 120 booths, with 70 specifically allocated to female artisans. This provides them a valuable opportunity to showcase their creations, connect with potential buyers, and earn income from their artistic talents.

In Herat, hundreds of women are involved in various artistic and handicraft activities. These include painting, drawing, miniature painting, calligraphy, engraving, and other traditional crafts, which many women rely on for their livelihoods.
