Phnom penh: Cambodia made 208 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 2.3 percent decline from 213 million dollars over the same period last year, said an official report on Tuesday. The report released by the General Directorate of Rubber highlighted the kingdom's export of 112,595 tons of the commodity during the January-June period this year, marking a 20 percent decrease from 140,653 tons over the same period last year.

According to Namibia Press Agency, domestic consumption of rubber latex rose significantly by 92 percent to 53,361 tons in the first half of this year, generating revenue from local sales reaching 93.5 million dollars. "A ton of rubber latex costs 1,853 U.S. dollars on average during the first six months of 2025, about 335 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, acting director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, stated in the report.

The Southeast Asian nation primarily exports the commodity to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China. Cambodia has so far cultivated rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, with trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, mature enough for tapping, the report indicated.
