Beijing: China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a Level-IV flood control emergency response for Sichuan Province on Sunday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the decision comes after meteorological authorities forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall across the Sichuan Basin, with some areas expecting heavy to torrential rains from Sunday through Tuesday.
China's national observatory renewed a yellow alert for rainstorms on Sunday, predicting heavy rain and torrential downpours from 8:00 a.m. Sunday to 8:00 a.m. Monday. These conditions are expected to affect broad regions, including parts of Jiangsu, Shanghai, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Heilongjiang.
China employs a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe conditions, followed by orange, yellow, and blue. The emergency response system also has four tiers, with Level I being the most severe.
