Beijing: China has made significant strides in various science and technology sectors, as highlighted in recent announcements and reports. The nation is advancing its intellectual property (IP) protection measures, contributing to global nuclear fusion projects, and innovating solutions to tackle microplastics pollution.According to Namibia Press Agency, China is actively addressing the intellectual property concerns and demands of enterprises, ensuring equal protection for both domestic and foreign innovators. Guo Wen, an official with the China National Intellectual Property Administration, emphasized at a press conference that China is aligning with international rules, facilitating efficient dispute resolution, and maintaining regular communication channels to support foreign enterprises operating in the country. In another significant development, China is contributing to the construction of the world's largest experimental tokamak nuclear fusion reactor in France. Forty-eight blanket shield block mod ules have been dispatched from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, to the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project. This facility, often referred to as the "artificial sun," is a collaborative effort involving China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States, aiming to explore the viability of fusion as a large-scale, clean energy source.Furthermore, a team of Chinese researchers has developed an innovative approach to combat microplastics pollution. A study published in Science Advances reveals a new reusable and biodegradable foam capable of absorbing microplastics in water with an initial efficiency of 99.8 percent. The foam, crafted from chitin found in squid bone and cellulose from cotton, was developed by scientists from Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, offering a sustainable solution to this environmental challenge.
