Beijing: A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense condemned Australia's unfounded claims regarding China's lawful military exercises in waters near Australia.
According to Namibia Press Agency, spokesperson Wu Qian made the remarks in response to a media query about Australia's accusation of three Chinese warships' recent activities and live-fire drills on the high seas near Australia. Wu stated that the Chinese naval exercise took place in high seas far from Australia's coastline, dismissing Australia's assertions as entirely baseless.
Wu further clarified that China's live-fire training was conducted with repeated safety notices issued in advance, ensuring compliance with international law and established practices. He emphasized that these exercises would not impact aviation safety in the region.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction, Wu accused Australia of unjustly criticizing China and deliberately exaggerating the issue. He urged Australia to adopt an objective and rational attitude towards the bilateral relations between the two countries and their militaries. Wu called for sincerity and professionalism from Australia to contribute to the stable development of ties between the nations.
