Shanghai: China's gaming market experienced a significant increase in sales revenue, reaching a record high of 168 billion yuan (approximately 23.5 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2025, marking a 14.08 percent increase compared to the previous year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, during this period, the number of Chinese game users neared 679 million. Chinese self-developed games generated more than 9.5 billion U.S. dollars in overseas markets, representing an 11.07 percent year-on-year increase. The primary overseas markets for these games include the United States, which accounts for 31.96 percent, followed by Japan and the Republic of Korea. This information was shared in an industry report released during the China International Digital Entertainment Industry Conference (CDEC) Summit Forum in Shanghai by the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association.
China maintains its position as the world's largest gaming market, with domestic sales revenue surpassing 325 billion yuan in 2024. "The Chinese gaming industry, with its profound cultural heritage and continuous technological innovation, is gaining high recognition on the world stage," remarked Ao Ran, executive vice president and secretary general of the association.
