China’s Top Legislator Discusses Future of Bilateral Relations with Australian PM

Beijing: Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Beijing on Tuesday. Zhao stated that the meeting between the two countries' leaders has charted a new blueprint for the development of China-Australia relations, signaling China's readiness to work with Australia to implement the important consensus reached during the discussions. The focus will be on advancing high-quality, mutually beneficial cooperation, deepening people-to-people ties, and promoting long-term, stable growth of bilateral relations.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Zhao emphasized the NPC's readiness to strengthen friendly relations with the Parliament of Australia. This will include enhancing experience exchanges in legislation and supervision, thereby providing a legal guarantee for bilateral cooperation.

Albanese expressed Australia's willingness to deepen trade and economic cooperation with China. He highlighted the importance of stepping up exchanges between legislative bodies, expanding people-to-people interactions, jointly addressing climate change, properly handling differences, and advancing Australia-China relations through dialogue and cooperation.
