Katima Mulilo: It was all systems go at exactly 07h00 on Wednesday as all polling stations opened on time in the Zambezi Region capital of Katima Mulilo, as well as other parts of the region. As the polling gates opened, Zambezi Governor Lawrence Sampofu was the first to cast his vote at the Ngweze Community Hall. Minutes later, Katima Mayor John Ntemwa also cast his vote at the same venue.According to Namibia Press Agency, Governor Sampofu expressed excitement after casting his ballot paper, emphasizing the importance of participating in the democratic process. He stated, "It is very important to participate in this democratic exercise. Elections are very important for any nation and it ensures that citizens exercise their democratic rights."Zambezi Electoral Officer, Lesley Simwanza, expressed satisfaction with the timely opening of polling stations across the region. He confirmed that voting would proceed as scheduled, with polling stations set to close at 21h00. Simwanza added that counting would comm ence immediately after voting concludes, and results would be announced at the polling stations before being officially verified and uploaded at the constituency collation centers.The Zambezi Region has 52,163 eligible voters expected to cast their votes on Wednesday.
