Five-year-old boy allegedly raped by cousin at Oipya

A five-year-old boy is among four victims reportedly raped in different incidents recorded over the country on the weekend.

A weekend crime report issued on Sunday by the Namibian Police Force’s spokesperson, Kauna Shikwambi, said the boy was allegedly raped on Friday by an 18-year-old male cousin at Oipya village in the Ongenga Constituency of the Ohangwena Region.

It is alleged that the suspect, who is a neighbour to the victim, forcefully undressed the victim and had sexual intercourse with him. The suspect has been arrested and police investigations continue.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 35-year-old man at around 22h30 on Friday at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region.

It is alleged that the suspect, after raping the minor, hid the victim’s clothes in the outside toilet and locked her in his room, but the victim managed to get out, took her clothes and ran home naked. The suspect, who is allegedly a neighbour to the victim, was arrested and is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Another rape incident was recorded in Mariental in the Hardap Region, where a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man between 03h00 and 04h00 on Friday. It is alleged that the suspect raped the victim, who was under the influence of alcohol, while she was asleep. The suspect has been arrested.

Another rape incident is reported to have taken place at Oshiku location in the Oshikuku constituency in the Omusati region, where a 24-year-old man was arrested for raping a 20-year-old woman at around 00h30 on Saturday. The suspect is expected to appear in court and police investigations continue.
