Canberra: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that Israel is "clearly" breaching international law by withholding aid from civilians in Gaza. Albanese emphasized that the deaths and suffering of civilians in Gaza are unacceptable and indefensible during an appearance on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Albanese highlighted that stopping food delivery, a decision made by Israel in March, is a breach of international law. He described it as a violation of decent humanity and morality, evident to all observers. In a statement released on Friday, Albanese expressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has surpassed the world's worst fears, stressing the Australian government's stance that every innocent life matters, whether Israeli or Palestinian. He lamented the loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives and the starvation of children.

The statement further described the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe, criticizing Israel's denial of aid and the killing of civilians, including children, seeking basic necessities like water and food. Albanese urged Israel to comply immediately with its obligations under international law, allowing the United Nations and NGOs to conduct their lifesaving work safely and without hindrance. He also called for the abandonment of any proposals for the permanent forced displacement of the Palestinian population.
