Kaiama: The Kwara Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Afees Alabi, has announced that the Kaiama Shea Butter Factory will create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs upon its completion. This declaration was made during a site visit in Kaiama to evaluate the progress of ongoing work and ensure alignment with the state government's priorities.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Alabi explained that the factory would engage local collectors, processors, transporters, and small-scale traders. The initiative is expected to bring significant benefits to rural women and youths. The factory is strategically located in a major shea-producing zone, aimed at unlocking the full potential of Kwara's abundant shea resources.

Dr. Alabi highlighted the superior quality of Kwara's shea butter, emphasizing its high oil content and natural purity. He noted the growing local and international demand for this product, particularly in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food sectors. "This factory represents more than an industrial project-it is a symbol of how local potential can drive global relevance," he stated.

The Commissioner further noted that the factory is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's strategy to stimulate inclusive economic growth and uplift rural communities. "This is what it means to govern with vision; investing in the land, empowering the people, and securing the future," he added.

Dr. Alabi also mentioned that the factory is a key component of the Kwara Government's broader strategy to drive sustainable agro-industrial development and empower rural communities. The initiative aims to position the state as a competitive leader in Nigeria's agricultural value chain.
