Man shoots himself in the head at Kwatoko village

A 58-year-old man shot himself in the head with a shotgun at Kwatoko village in the Kavango West Region on Saturday.

A Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report on Sunday indicated that the incident happened at around 22h00, at his house, after a fight allegedly broke out between the deceased and his wife.

The wife is reportedly admitted to the Rundu State Hospital for injuries sustained during the fight.

His next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.

Still, in Kavango West Region at Mupini village, a 29-year-old man was arrested for alleged attempted murder and possession of cannabis on the same day.

It is alleged that the suspect stabbed a 26-year-old man three times on his back while they were on their way back from a shebeen in the village after an argument broke out.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Rundu State Hospital.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday for attempted murder and for possession of cannabis that was found in his room when they arrested him.

Meanwhile, in Rundu two men aged 22 and 34 years were arrested for possession of cannabis on Friday.

According to the report, the two men were found with five parcels of cannabis weighing 2,270 kilograms and valued at N.dollars 22 700.

The pair is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday
