Windhoek: Vice President and Swapo Party presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, cast her vote in the early hours of Wednesday at the Emma Hoogenhout Primary School in Windhoek. She was accompanied by her husband, retired army general Denga Ndaitwah and Swapo Secretary General, Sophia Shaningwa.According to Namibia Press Agency, shortly after casting her vote, Nandi-Ndaitwah addressed journalists, encouraging eligible voters to participate in the election. She emphasized that the president declared 27 November a public holiday to facilitate voter turnout. Nandi-Ndaitwah stated, "This is meant to allow each and every voter to make their way to the nearest polling station. As the vice president, I am also echoing what the president has said, by calling on all Namibians who have registered to come out in numbers and vote. It is not just your constitutional responsibility, it is also your national responsibility, because naturally you have a responsibility over yourself and others around you. Through vo ting, you are making your voice heard and you will have an impact on your life and the life of every Namibian for the next five years."Nandi-Ndaitwah further mentioned that while the government seeks foreign direct investment, it has established laws to ensure benefits for all Namibians. She highlighted the importance of balancing resource ownership and benefit for the Namibian people, stating, "There should be a balance to ensure that the Namibian people, who are the owners of these resources, benefit from them."
