A 39-year-old Namibian Defence Force (NDF) member was arrested for alleged fraud, forgery and theft under false pretence at Walvis Bay on Friday.
A Namibian Police Force crime report issued Sunday indicates that the suspect defrauded victims of money by allegedly conducting baptism and confirmation and issuing fake Baptism Registration and Confirmation certificates.
“The suspect used the State Official Stamp of NDF. The stamp, baptism, and confirmation documents, as well as N.dollars 1 600 cash, were confiscated from the suspect’s ghetto at Tutaleni at Walvis Bay,” the report stated.
The suspect was expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday and police investigations into the matter continue.
