Windhoek: Namibian Police Force Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has assured the public that no reports of violence, injury, or death have been recorded at polling stations across the country as Namibians head to the polls. By Wednesday morning, all operations were confirmed to be running smoothly, allowing citizens to cast their votes peacefully.According to Namibia Press Agency, Shikongo relayed this information during an interaction with the media at the Emma Hoogenhout Primary School polling station in Windhoek. He emphasized that regional commanders across the country have verified that the voting process is proceeding without any disruptions. "This is one of the polling stations I visited this morning, and I can tell you I am a stress-free inspector general because wherever you go, you'll see the environment is fine," Shikongo stated. He expressed confidence that the peace observed at this station would be mirrored at others.Shikongo further encouraged the public to maintain co operation with law enforcement agencies to ensure a continued peaceful voting process. He also issued a warning to potential lawbreakers, indicating that the police presence is not limited to polling stations. "Criminals must know that even though we are here, at polling centres, we have more forces who are deployed to ensure public security everywhere in the corners of the republic," Shikongo added.The polling stations are operational from 07:00 to 21:00 for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, providing ample time for citizens to participate in the democratic process.
