Oshifo: The voting process at the Oshifo settlement near Ruacana began early Wednesday morning, with community members patiently waiting for their turn to vote. David Shikongi, the presiding officer at Oshifo Community Hall, said they did not experience any hiccups from the onset. He said that close to 200 people managed to cast their votes in the first hour when the process started at 07h00.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Shikongi reported that around 180 people had already voted and noted that the voting process was moving swiftly. Shikongi expressed optimism about more people coming out to vote as the day progressed.

Michael Mukupi, a local voter, emphasized the importance of participating in the elections to exercise his democratic rights. Mukupi said, ‘The reason I want to vote is because I want to exercise my democratic right, so the reason I am burning in the sun is to make my voice heard.’

Oshifo community members are part of the over 1.4 million Namibians who are voting in the Presidential and
National Assembly elections.
