Windhoek: Voting at the Wernhil Shopping Centre polling station in Windhoek saw mixed reactions on Wednesday as employees and the general public queued to cast their votes in Namibia’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. Some of the employees of businesses in Wernhil were given time off by management to cast their votes.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Nelson Frans, an employee at Wernhil Checkers, expressed frustration as the line designated for employees at Station A stagnated, while the general public’s queue moved ahead. Frans shared that the officer was sending them back to work and asking them to return after 14h00 to join the queue, a situation he found impossible.
Osven Njamene, who voted at Station A, described his experience as smooth, having arrived at 07h00 and completed the process easily. He encouraged all Namibians to participate in the voting process.
Sylvester Afrikaner, however, was deterred by the long queues and decided to return around 19h00, hoping for shorter lines. He
mentioned that he would go back to the farm and return later when it might be quieter.
