Kabul: A total of 2,313 young men have joined the Afghan security forces after completing their military training over the past two days, the defense ministry has stated.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the new recruits received professional, military, and ideological instruction at training centers under the 209th Al-Fatah Army Corps in the north, the 207th Al-Farooq Corps in the west, and the 217th Omari Corps. These training centers are pivotal in preparing the young men for their roles in the security forces.
The ministry highlighted the importance of professionalism and discipline among the new recruits, describing this influx as a step forward in strengthening Afghanistan's security infrastructure. This development aligns with the Afghan interim government's broader objective of building a robust national army.
Since taking power in August 2021, the Afghan interim government has focused on expanding its national army. Initially targeting a force of 150,000, the government has raised its goal to 170,000, with a potential objective of 200,000, depending on the prevailing conditions in the country.
