Pensioner drowns at Ombathi village

A 63-year-old woman drowned in a canal at Ombathi village in the Omusati Region on Friday, the police’s serious crime report has indicated.

The report, issued on Monday by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), said the incident occurred at 07h50 and the deceased has been identified as Ndapanda Inamutuhala.

Her next of kin have been informed.

It further said two girls aged 13 and 14 drowned in a pond at Okakumangua village, in the Etanga area of the Epupa Conservancy, on the same day.

It is alleged that the 13-year-old girl jumped into the pond to swim and when she could not manage, her 14-year-old sister decided to jump into the pond to assist, but both drowned.

At Okongo, Oshivelo, on the same day, a 100-year-old man died at his home around 19h00 after he complained of stomach pain.

He was identified as Haunawa Martin and his next of kin are informed.

The report further said on Saturday, the body of 42-year-old Rita Baby Jonas, a Namibian female, was reportedly found hanging with a rope around her neck in her room at Etemba village near Ondangwa.

Her next of kin were informed.

Meanwhile, two-month-old Destiny Mugonda died at home in Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region, after she allegedly fell sick. No foul play is suspected.

At Oshakati, 33-year-old Angula Fillemone succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital, after she was reportedly run over by a Toyota Hilux that was driving from Eendola to Oshakati.

The next of kin were informed.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
