Moscow: Russia's cassation court has reduced the sentence of US national Robert Woodland, convicted of attempted drug trafficking, from 12.5 years to 9.5 years, his lawyer told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. In July, the Moscow prosecutor's office announced that Woodland had been sentenced to 12.5 years in jail for his involvement in an illegal drugs case.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the sentence was officially reduced to 9.5 years following an appeal. The decision marks a significant reduction in the original sentence handed down to Woodland, who was found guilty of attempting to traffic drugs. The case has drawn attention due to its international implications, with Woodland being a US citizen facing legal proceedings in Russia.
