Ngoma: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi Region has initiated a manhunt following the escape of seven trial-awaiting inmates from the Ngoma Police holding cells early Monday morning.

According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPol’s Commander for the Zambezi Police Region, Commissioner Andreas Shilelo, confirmed that the inmates managed to escape at 04h30 by cutting through the roof of the holding cells with an unidentified object. They then used a blanket to facilitate their escape to the outside.

Commissioner Shilelo noted that the escapees are believed to be heading towards Luhonono, with police suspecting their intention to cross the border into Zambia. He has urged farmers along the Zambezi River to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities promptly.

The escapees consist of six Zambian nationals and one Namibian national. They were in custody awaiting trials on various charges, including housebreaking and murder.
