Windhoek: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is investigating three separate incidents in which three people, including two minors, died in Swakopmund, Rehoboth, and Ongha over the weekend.

According to Namibia Press Agency, a 16-year-old Namibian boy was allegedly stabbed to death during an altercation in Si !Gobs Street, Swakopmund, at about 19h00 on Saturday. Police reported that a 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed the victim with an Okapi knife before fleeing the scene. The suspect was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody while investigations continue. The deceased's next of kin had not yet been informed at the time the report was issued.

In a separate incident in Rehoboth, police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old schoolboy whose body was discovered in the Oanob Bridge riverbed at about 13h16 on Saturday. The minor, a Grade 5 learner at the town, had reportedly been missing since Friday after failing to return home from school. Police said children who were herding goats discovered the boy's body, which had visible bruises. His next of kin have been informed, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death continue.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Namibian man died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest during an altercation at Ongha at about 21h00 on Friday. According to police, an argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the victim was stabbed. The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody. The deceased's next of kin have been informed, and police investigations continue.
