Two babies and young woman die over weekend

Police in the Hardap Region are investigating an incident in which a one-year-old baby girl died at Farm Nomtsas in Maltahöhe district while in the care of her aunt.

A crime report issued on Sunday by the Namibian Police Force Public Relations Department, stated that the baby was brought to the Maltahöhe hospital on 02 July 2022 for medical check-up and then again on 14 July for general immunisation before returning to the farm.

It is alleged that the girl died on Saturday at about 07h00. The body was taken to the same hospital for further examination and no foul play was found.

In Khorixas, an eight-month-old baby was discovered hanging out of the stroller by his mother who left him to go to the kitchen while he was sleeping.

The incident took place on Friday at about 15h00.

It is reported that the baby was sucking on a pacifier which was attached to a small rope around his neck. The baby was found hanging from the small rope which got stuck on the stroller as he was trying to get out of the stroller.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

In another matter, the body of 22-year-old Sibeso Sibolile was discovered on Friday in the bushes at Machita area in Katima Mulilo. The deceased was positively identified by her mother and the matter is being investigated by the police.
