Unavailability of a State witness to testify in the formal bail hearing of a 34-year-old man

The unavailability of a State witness to testify in the formal bail hearing of a 34-year-old man accused of stabbing another man to death here in February this year, has led to the hearing being postponed to Friday.

Angula Immanuel Shaningilwe stands accused of stabbing 45-year-old Joseph Johannes in the neck at a cuca shop in the Extension 7 informal settlement on 13 February, leading to the latter's death.

Shaningilwe, made a brief appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court before magistrate Melissa Mungunda on Tuesday.

On 25 October, the defence closed its arguments and yesterday the court was supposed to hear testimony from State witnesses on why the accused should not be granted bail.

During the court hearing yesterday State Representative Frederick van der Colf informed the court that the State witness set to testify in support of why the accused should not be granted bail was sick and would not be able to testify.
