Walvis Bay man allegedly commits suicide

A 52 year-old resident of Walvis Bay reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on Thursday evening.

A crime report issued by Namibian Police Force's Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Friday said that the incident took place during the early morning hours.

The lifeless body was reportedly discovered at around 070, lying next to the front door by children who were on their way to school.

It is alleged that the deceased, identified as Jacobus Kaudinge Haipinge arrived home at around 045 on Thursday, where he parked his car and started pacing about the yard, according to his wife, who noticed him through the window.

She further added that the deceased did not enter the house but she that she went back to bed as this was a habit he had recently picked up.

The deceased is believed to have shot himself under the chin as an open wound was discovered in that area. A pistol, whose ownership is yet to be confimred was also found next to the body.

The wife, after she was informed by the children then notified the police.

No suicide note was found. Police investigations continue.
