Moscow: A West-sponsored information campaign is currently underway in Mongolia, aiming to undermine a temporary trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), according to Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First Department for the Commonwealth of Independent States of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Agasandyan shared this information with RIA Novosti.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the campaign suggests that the temporary trade agreement, which includes a limited list of products, could result in Mongolia becoming overly dependent on Russia and the EAEU. Agasandyan noted that the campaign seems to be supported by certain groups from Western countries.

Agasandyan further stated that the West appears to be attempting to convince Ulaanbaatar to reconsider the deal, despite the fact that it was initiated by Mongolia itself. The diplomat mentioned that should all necessary procedures be completed in both the EAEU member states and Mongolia, the agreement could potentially be signed at the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
