Beijing: Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has emphasized the need to advance the Peaceful China Initiative to a higher level. This call to action was made during a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which Xi presided over.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Xi highlighted the importance of ongoing efforts to ensure national safety, societal order, effective governance, and public satisfaction. He attributed China's achievements in rapid economic growth and sustained social stability to the CPC Central Committee's leadership and systems enhancement in national security since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012.
Xi stressed that despite evolving situations and tasks, the development of a Peaceful China must be reinforced. He outlined the holistic approach to national security as a major guideline to achieving these objectives. He urged party committees and governments to establish a solid foundation for long-term national stability by addressing security issues promptly and effectively.
Highlighting the people-centric nature of the Peaceful China Initiative, Xi called for safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the populace, while ensuring social fairness and justice. He identified the prevention and mitigation of various risks as a crucial aspect of the initiative, with national political security being a top priority.
Xi also emphasized the need for strengthened efforts in disaster prevention, cyberspace security, and artificial intelligence security, especially focusing on risks in key areas. Crime prevention and control, as well as the law-based handling of public complaints, were also underscored as areas for improvement.
Further, Xi advocated for the CPC Central Committee's absolute leadership over national security and related areas, emphasizing the use of modern technologies to enhance social governance. During the session, Li Yan, vice president and professor at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, provided insights and suggestions on advancing the Peaceful China Initiative.
