A 28-year-old man died after the vehicle he was driving collided with oncoming traffic some 20 kilometres outside Ariamsvlei in the ||Kharas Region Saturday night.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report issued on Sunday, said the deceased was identified as Gayno Jass and his next of kin are aware of his death.
The incident allegedly occurred around 23h00 on Saturday on the Ariamsvlei-Komsberg gravel road.
Jass was with nine other passengers who sustained serious to minor injuries and all were taken to the Karasburg State Hospital for treatment. Police at Ariamsvlei are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
At Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region, police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 27-year-old man identified as Theodore Nuyoma allegedly died on the spot after the vehicle he was in collided with another.
Nuyoma’s next of kin are aware of his death.
The accident occurred on Friday around 20h30 on the Katima Mulilo-Ngoma road opposite the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade offices.
Police at Onayena in the Oshikoto Region are also investigating a case of culpable homicide after two men died when the vehicle they were travelling in allegedly crashed into a truck at the town on Thursday night.
The incident happened around 22h00 on the Ondangwa-Omuthiya main road between the Oniimbwele and Iihwali residential areas.
The deceased persons were identified as 31-year-old Petrus Tulonga Inkono who was the driver of the vehicle and Nehale Gebhard, age unknown. Their next of kin are aware of their deaths.
“It is alleged that after the driver lost control over the vehicle, the vehicle drove into a truck which was driving from the opposite direction,” said the report.
In a separate incident, police at Kalkrand in the Hardap Region on Friday arrested a 42-year-old man after he allegedly shot and killed a 38-year-old with a pistol at farm Kentani.
The deceased was identified as Elias Kasibu and his next of kin are aware of his death. The incident occurred around 09h00 at the farm and police are investigating a murder case.
