Barrett and Looser win Stage 3 of Tour de Windhoek

Mannie’s Bike Mecca (MBM) rider Vera Looser and Honeycomb Pro Cycling rider Travis Barrett on Saturday won Stage 3 of the Tour de Windhoek after fending off their challengers in the sprint.

Stage 3 of the tour saw male riders covering 117 kilometres of the Daan Viljoen and B1 Döbra route, while their female counterparts did 79km of the route.

To win the women’s category, Looser once again showed her dominance to beat her teammate Courtney Liebenberg and Melissa Hinz, who is riding for Food Lover’s Market (FLM).

Looser completed the route in two hours, 29 minutes and 18 seconds (02:29:18), a minute and 09 seconds ahead of Liebenberg and Hinz who had a photo finish in a time of 02:30:09.

In the men’s division, Marc Pritzen riding for South African team Honeycomb Pro Cycling won the third stage of the tour after beating Megatec Elite riders Konny Looser, Alex Miller and Hugo Hahn to the line after 02:52:12.

Looser, Miller and Hahn finished second, third and fourth respectively.

In the team classification, Honeycomb Pro Cycling is currently leading the log standings with a gap of four minutes and 11 seconds. Megatech Elite and another South African outfit, TEG Pro Cycling Team, are second and third respectively.

Honeycomb leads the team ranking with a time of 16:55:41 and Megatech Elite are second on 16:59:30, while TEG Procycling is on 17:08:15.

In the women’s team classification, FLM Ladies are top with a lead of 15:24:32 followed by MBM Ladies, who are four minutes and 11 seconds behind in 15:28:41 and Cymot Racing Team Ladies with a time of 15:49:55.

The Tour de Windhoek started Thursday and ends Sunday.
