COVID-19: Namibia records two new cases

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, has announced that Namibia on Thursday recorded two new COVID-19 cases.

No deaths were recorded.

In an update issued Friday, Shangula said the new cases formed part of 967 tested samples and represented a 0.2 per cent positivity ratio. Both were from the Khomas region and were aged 40 and 44.

Of the confirmed cases, one person had received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while the other person had not received any vaccines.

Namibia on Thursday had 64 active cases of which 11 were hospitalised, with two people admitted to intensive care units.

A total of 28 recoveries were also announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 125 433.

A cumulative 352 187 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Thursday, of which 69 523 had received the single dose Janssen & Johnson vaccine, while 221 536 people had received two doses.

The total number of deaths remained at 3 567.
