Drugs worth N.dollars 772 000 seized in November

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) seized drugs worth N.dollars 772 530 countrywide last month, resulting in the arrests of 84 suspects.

This is contained in a crime report issued on Monday by NamPol spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi.

She said cannabis was the most commonly seized drug from 01 to 30 November 2021, with a value of N.dollars 413 390.

The police also reported that 127 Mandrax tablets valued at N.dollars 15 240 were seized from suspects, while 686 grams of cocaine powder worth N.dollars 343 000 were also confiscated. Nine units of crack cocaine worth N.dollars 900 were confiscated over the same period.

Among the arrested and charged suspects were 67 Namibians, 12 Zambians, three Angolan nationals, one Brazilian and one person from Botswana.

“The Namibian Police Force is urging the public to refrain from using these dangerous substances, because when they are found they are likely to get punished. Moreover, the police is requesting all law-abiding citizens to report these types of criminal activities,” said Shikwambi.
