One of the two male suspected cattle rustlers linked to the stock theft of five young Brahmans at Okamatapati in the Otjzondjupa Region last week Friday, has been arrested.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Tuesday told Nampa in an interview that a 37-year-old man was arrested Friday night after the police received information about him and another man who were allegedly keeping five stolen cattle at a nearby village.

“When we followed up on the tip, we indeed found the cattle hidden in a kraal, and one of the two suspects was consequently arrested while the other one fled on foot,” said Mbeha.

The cattle which are valued at N.dollars 40 000, were also recovered and returned to the owner on Monday, added Mbeha.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court on a stock theft count this week, while a hunt for the other rustler who fled continue.
