Macao: The China International Medical Emergency Team (Macao) returned to Macao on Friday after completing a 14-day emergency medical mission in Myanmar, which was severely affected by a recent earthquake.
According to Namibia Press Agency, during their stay in Myanmar, the medical team held several working meetings with Myanmar’s Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Myanmar office, and other pertinent institutions. The discussions were centered on medical relief efforts in the disaster-stricken areas, public health responses, and strategies for cooperation in epidemic prevention.
At the invitation of the WHO, the medical team embarked on their mission to Myanmar on April 24. Their focus was on post-earthquake emergency medical coordination and providing technical support to the affected regions. The earthquake, which struck Myanmar on March 28 with a magnitude of 7.9, resulted in widespread destruction and claimed the lives of 3,835 people as of May 1.
