Man who died in B1 road accident identified

The 43-year-old man who died in an accident on the B1 road between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja on Wednesday, has been identified.

Namibian Police Force spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Thursday said the deceased was positively identified by relatives as Elvis Hangue from Gam in the Tsumkwe Constituency.

Hangue allegedly lost control over the pickup he was driving and collided with a truck when it veered into the right lane.

The accident occurred around 17h00 on Wednesday, approximately 80 kilometres from Otjiwarongo. Hangue was driving in the direction of Okahandja, the truck was headed in the opposite direction.

The 45-year-old female passenger who was in the vehicle with Hangue sustained serious injuries, and was admitted to the Okahandja State Hospital in a critical condition.

The 30-year-old male truck driver, who was alone, was uninjured.

Police investigations continue.
