Windhoek: The Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) Board of Directors has announced the suspension of Acting CEO and Executive: Livestock Procurement and Production, Patrick Liebenberg, effective 14 July 2025. This decision was communicated on Tuesday and marks a significant development in the leadership of the corporation.
According to Namibia Press Agency, an internal memo issued by Board Chairperson Stephanie de Klerk to all employees indicates that the suspension is pending an investigation. The corporation has made it clear that whistle-blowers involved in the process will receive necessary protection, ensuring that the investigation proceeds without undue influence or fear of retaliation.
In the interim, the Board has appointed Mr Kingsley Kwenani as Acting CEO, with his tenure starting on 15 July 2025 and continuing until 31 August 2025, or until an externally seconded acting appointment is finalised by the Ministry of Finance. This temporary leadership change aims to maintain business continuity while allowing an independent investigation to move forward unimpeded.
The Board has urged all employees to support Mr Kwenani in his new role and reminded them of the legal presumption of innocence that accompanies such investigations. Employees are also encouraged to cooperate fully with the investigating authority, maintain confidentiality, and avoid engaging in commentary with third parties or the media during the investigation process.
The Board concluded with a message of reassurance, encouraging employees to trust in the Board's ability to resolve the matter in a way that serves the best interests of Meatco.
