Pensioner allegedly raped by grandson at Dingandu village

An 81-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy believed to be her grandson, the police have reported.

The incident happened at Dingandu village in the Kavango East Region on Wednesday, the Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for the region Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa.

It is reported that the victim left her homestead to visit a neighbour when the suspect grabbed her and had sexual intercourse with her in the bush.

The suspect was arrested and the case is being investigated, the police said.

He will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

In an unrelated incident, two men between the ages of 20 and 30 were arrested on Tuesday for stealing and slaughtering 12 goats and five chickens between August and 10 December this year.

It is reported that the incidents took place at Hondepeke village without the consent of the owner.

The goats and chickens are valued at N.dollars 16 000.

No recoveries were made but police investigation continues.
