Scotland defeated Namibia by 77 runs in the first of six One-Day-International (ODI) matches in the tri-series that began on Sunday.

The tri-series is taking place in Scotland and also features Nepal.

Namibia won the toss and decided to field first, allowing Scotland to post 258 runs for six wickets (6) in their 50 overs.

The hosts then skittled the Eagles 181 all out in 43.0 overs, with Nicol Loftie Eaton and Lohan Louwrens top-scoring with 50 and 47 runs respectively.

JJ Smit and Jan Frylinck scored 28 and 18 respectively as the Namibian bowlers struggled against the Scotland attack led by right-arm fast-medium bowler Safyaan Mohammed Sharif, who took five wickets for 35 runs (5/35) in nine overs.

Sharif was supported by Hamza Tahir and Mark Robert Watt, who both took two wickets for 27 and 44 runs respectively.

Gavin Thomas Main took the other wicket for Scotland as Namibia failed to deal with the Scottish fast-bowlers.

For the Eagles, captain Gerhard Erasmus took 3/56 in 10 overs, with Tangeni Lungameni chipping in with 2/46 in the same number of overs as well.

Ruben Trumpelmann took the other wicket for the Eagles.
