Six of Seven Trial Awaiting Inmates Escape Ngoma Police Station

Katima mulilo: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi Region has launched an urgent operation to re-arrest six of the seven trial-awaiting inmates who escaped from the Ngoma Police Station holding cells Sunday night. NamPol spokesperson and Head of Community Policing in the Zambezi Region, Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali, stated that the inmates managed to escape around 22h00 by cutting through the roof of their holding cell.

According to Namibia Press Agency, footprints of the escapees led officers to the far east, in areas such as the Nakabolelwa, Kasika, and Itomba villages. Police successfully re-arrested a 23-year-old Zambian national, Monga Mubita, on Monday morning. However, six suspects remain at large, including one Namibian, four Zambian nationals, and one Angolan national.

Chief Inspector Sitali emphasized the seriousness of the pending cases against the escapees and urged the public to remain vigilant. He advised residents to report any unfamiliar individuals or suspicious activities, particularly around drinking places where the escapees might seek water or refuge.

The escapees have been identified as Chester Yambwa, 34; Xavier Francisco, 27; Mulyokela Sinyinda, 20; James Lisho, 35; Nyambe Sililo, 53; and Vincent Mwiya, 38. Authorities have requested anyone with information that may lead to their capture to contact Deputy Commissioner Nehemia at 0812433271, Senior Inspector Shifura at 0814249740, or any nearest police station.
