Rehoboth: Woodland Ridge owner Enrico Junius has declared that his horse remains a powerhouse in the sport following its impressive win at the CastleBet Cup competition staged at the Rehoboth race track on Saturday.According to Namibia Press Agency, trained by Winnie Christian, the legendary thoroughbred outperformed top-tier competitors including Chief Helmet, Gamer, Pee Jay, Crystal Maiden, Equerry, Time Master, Visigoth, and Golden Rosano. This triumph follows Woodland Ridge's win at the Independence Cup in Gobabis earlier this year. In addition to the trophy, the champion horse secured a cash prize of N$22,500.While the majority of spectators placed their bets on Pee Jay-a thoroughbred owned and trained by Burger Racing that has dominated recent competitions-the tables were completely turned. Woodland Ridge captured the CastleBet Cup, leaving Pee Jay to settle for second place, while Crystal Maiden and Equerry claimed the third and fourth places respectively.Speaking to Nampa on Saturday, Junius sai d that while form is temporary, 'the heart of a champion is permanent.' "That's my horse, Woodland Ridge. It proved the doubters wrong and I am very glad that we won this big race. Our horse made history," he said.Junius noted that the victory has injected a vibrant energy into the club. He expressed his commitment to developing the sport he has loved since childhood. "We are more than happy, we will continue racing locally and internationally in countries like Botswana. This is an amazing feeling and the future looks bright," he added.Woodland Ridge's jockey, Piet Coetzee, was overwhelmed by the triumph but said he anticipated the win right from the starting gate. "I had a feeling from the beginning that we would win. Woodland is a very easy horse to handle, and I guided it perfectly to secure this victory," Coetzee said. Coetzee noted that his name is now etched in the history books as the jockey who won the inaugural main race of the CastleBet Cup in Namibia. "This is my biggest achievement," he said.
